In my opinion, it is still one of the best-looking cars ever made. I know this might not be for everyone, but hear me out. This car offers everything in one package. It has a strong heritage, it is not outrageously expensive, it is very practical, and it can blend in with other cars while still standing out when it is in good condition. It is never flashy, but never dull either. The interior is comfortable, and you can feel the care that went into the design. Everything is functional. No annoying touchscreens, no overcomplicated technology. It simply does its job, and it does it very well.
You are probably already thinking it is the ultimate daily driver. And yes, that is true, but there is more. If you go for the 320i, 325i, or 330i, you get the inline six engine. And not just any inline six. It is one of the best-sounding six-cylinder engines out there. It is loud, but never annoying or trying too hard. It has a warm roar that puts a smile on your face, presses you into the seat, and makes you enjoy every drive. And as if that was not enough, it also has rear-wheel drive. At least if you go for the “i” models. The “xi” models come with all-wheel drive.
In the end, I was unfortunately not able to find the right one for me yet. I have put the search on hold for now, but I will definitely look again in the future. With the recent announcement from BMW Alpina, the excitement came back immediately, and I wanted to share my ultimate E46 with you: the Alpina E46 B3 3.3. Alpina did an incredible job with this car. They made it even more beautiful with the sporty bumpers and, of course, the iconic Alpina wheels.
So I am still hoping that one day I will find the right car, at the right price, in the right condition. I cannot wait for that moment.
